Twitter Has Permanently Suspended 7000 QAnon Accounts As They Violate Its Policies

On Tuesday, Twitter Inc has announced that they will permanently suspend as many as 7000 accounts that violate its policies. They have also particularly tweeted about QAnon. The company has also said that any accounts tweeting about QAnon will face permanent suspension these include accounts that have been suspended due to coordinate harassment against individuals.

Moreover, the company has explained that they will start treating QAnon content differently on the platform. The company will not only remove related topics from its trending pages but also they will block associated URLs through algorithmic recommendations.

According to Twitter, the suspension is expected to roll out this week and it will impact about 150,000 accounts globally. While in the last several weeks they have already suspended even more than 7,000 accounts for violating the rules such as platform manipulation, spam, and ban evasion.

The suspensions will be applied to all the accounts that are actively “engaged in violations of our multi-account policy, coordinating abuse around individual victims, or are attempting to evade a previous suspension something we’ve seen more of in recent weeks,” Twitter said.

According to the online conspiracies, QAnon’s theories, claim that “deep-state” is at a secret war with Trump. “Deep-state” refers to a combination of elites from different fields including political, intelligence, business, and entertainment.

QAnon group’s content has garnered a widely spread mainstream social media platform’s attention including TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Earlier this year, Facebook has taken steps to remove a network of fake accounts from the U.S. that were linked to QAnon.

The group has also claimed that Democratic Party members are also behind international crime rings. Last year, a warning was issued by the FBI for “conspiracy theory-driven domestic extremists.” It designated QAnon as a potential domestic extremist threat.
