In Spotify’s latest upgrade they have added a new feature called “What’s New.” It is a new section in Spotify’s app that collects new music together from musicians you follow on the platform.

Over the coming weeks, the feed will roll out globally on Android and iOS. The new feature will be accessible to everyone via a new bell icon on the top right of the home screen.

If there is new content in the feed a blue dot will indicate it on the app. Besides, you will be able to add artists and podcasts by tapping the “Follow” button on their respective pages.

What’s New makes it easier than ever to catch all the latest songs and episodes from the creators you follow,” Spotify’s announcement says.

“Plus, it’s even updated in real-time, so you know you’ll get to listen to new content just as it’s released.”

The feed will help keep up-to-date with podcasts although it works with music releases.

Despite the app’s push into podcasting as a service, music-focused service meant that it is not well suited for listening to episodic content.

Meanwhile, apps that are dedicated to the podcast are designed around chronological feeds. This makes it easier for the users to see when new episodes are available.

Hopefully, Spotify’s new feature “What’s New” will bring some of these benefits to the app.
