Today, Apple has rolled out its iOS 16 beta 5 to developers for testing purposes. Through the latest beta updates, Apple has introduced small yet significant changes to its iOS operating system.

The latest iOS 16 update is the fifth developer beta of Apple’s operating system, seeded ahead of its release this fall. Certainly, a public beta will be following shortly in the upcoming days. However, this update comes with the assumption that there are no catastrophic bugs in the developer-only beta.

Here are the latest changes introduced by Apple in its latest iOS 16 beta 5 updates:

Battery Status in iOS 16 beta 5

  1. Battery Percentage in Status Bar:

Currently, you can see the exact battery percentage in the battery icon in the status bar. This feature can be toggled on in the Battery section of the Settings app.

  1. Battery Indicator 2

Above all, the battery level is available on the iPhone and iPhone 13 models. However, you won’t find the feature in the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13. Additionally, the feature is also available on the iPhone X and iPhone XS—but unavailable on the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR.

For years, the battery percentage has been unavailable on iPhones with a notch due to space constraints. However, the latest update welcomes a change for many iPhone users. Previously, users could check the exact battery percentage by swiping into Control Center or by using the battery widget.

Find My Sound and Sound Updates in iOS 16 beta 5

  1. Find My Sound

If you use the ‘Play Sound’ option in the Find My app for one of your devices, iPhone models will have a new sound that plays. Although it is a bit louder, the sound is distinct from the other available sounds with prior versions of iOS 16.

  1. New sound while pinging iPhone from Watch

If you swipe on the Apple Watch to get to the Control Center and tap on the iPhone icon to ping your iPhone to locate it, you’ll hear a new sound. Interestingly, this sound is the same as the new Find My Sound.

Mini Visualizer and Perspective Zoom in iOS 16 beta 5

Moreover, the third beta of ‌iOS 16‌ added a full-screen music player, and the fifth beta introduces a live mini visualizer.

  1. Perspective Zoom

Additionally, Apple removed the lock screen wallpapers and replaced them with the new Perspective Zoom feature. In addition to that, Apple also removed the toggle to disable it. It may be certainly re-added in a future beta, as it is a feature that has been available on iPhones for some time.

  1. Music App

Apple has slightly tweaked where Dolby Atmos and Lossless indicators are displayed. The information is now right next to the genre, rather than below the Play and Shuffle buttons.

  1. Screenshots

When you take a screenshot, edit it, and then tap on “Done,” there is a new option to “Copy and Delete” the screenshot rather than just delete it.

  1. Emergency Call

Lastly, when you press and hold on the side button or rapidly press to get to the emergency screen, you will see “Emergency SOS” instead of “Emergency Call.”
