IBM and TCS to Deploy India’s Largest Quantum Computer with IBM Quantum System Two at Quantum Valley Tech Park

IBM and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have partnered with the Andhra Pradesh government to install India’s largest quantum computer at the upcoming Quantum Valley Tech Park in Amaravati. BusinessLine reported that the installation of the advanced Quantum System Two from IBM features a 156-qubit Heron processor for this initiative. The project aims to strengthen India’s position in quantum technology and support the National Quantum Mission.

The first quantum research center of India called Quantum Valley Tech Park will begin its operations on January 1, 2026. This initiative was established to accelerate the process of developing quantum applications.

India’s First Quantum Hub

The Quantum Valley Tech Park in Amaravati is planned to be India’s main center for quantum research and new technology. IBM’s Quantum System Two anchors the facility while its 156-qubit Heron processor makes it the strongest quantum system operating within India. Through this setup researchers along with industry professionals can obtain access to quantum computing facilities at their forefront. This can be accessed both through on-site and cloud-based solutions.

This development holds great importance to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, he said “Our National Quantum Mission is to make India a global hub in the quantum industry; a true center of innovation and job creation with access to the technology capable of solving some of our country’s and the world’s most pressing and complex challenges.”

Quantum Applications Across Sectors

TCS will work with IBM to create quantum algorithms and applications. These tools will help solve tough problems in different fields. The quantum devices made by both companies can be used in life sciences, materials science, supply chains, energy use, data security, and eco-friendly manufacturing. The hybrid computing setups that TCS develops through combining quantum computing systems with CPUs and GPUs enable the resolution of problems that exceed typical computer capacities.

The approach receives strong emphasis from Dr. Harrick Vin, who serves as chief technology officer at TCS: “Hybrid architectures are the key to overcoming intractable computing challenges, with quantum computing serving as a catalyst. TCS’s Hybrid Computing strategy is creating what we believe is a breakthrough software layer that intelligently decomposes programs across current systems—CPUs, GPUs, and emerging computing architectures—such as quantum.”

Advancing National Quantum Mission

The Quantum Valley Tech Park establishes its operations based on India’s National Quantum Mission to become a world leader in quantum technology research. The mission aims to build strong quantum computing abilities. The system provides research assistance, which leads to practical application development. This development drives economic growth through technological innovations.

The collaboration between IBM Quantum and Quantum Venture Fund has Jay Gambetta as its Vice President of IBM Quantum. He expressed his positive outlook about the partnership: “We are excited about our plans with the state of Andhra Pradesh to deploy our latest IBM Quantum System Two at the Quantum Valley Tech Park. Our collaboration with TCS will help attract the country’s thriving ecosystem of developers, scientists, and industry experts to develop algorithms and applications.”

IBM, TCS, and the Andhra Pradesh government are working together on this project. Their partnership will help make Quantum Valley Tech Park an important place for quantum computing in India. It will support new ideas and innovation. The park will also help solve big national problems using advanced technology.
