Amazon is making it easier for sellers to create professional video ads. The Amazon AI video generator allows users to create AI with a single click, the Verge reported. The new tool comes at a time when Amazon competitors like Google and Meta are working to expand their AI-driven ad tools.
Amazon’s video generator can create photorealistic video assets in under five minutes. The tool is already accessible to US sellers free of charge. First introduced in beta in 2024, the tool now features multiple upgrades aimed at helping brands to turn product images or footage into eye-catching ads quickly.
“It’s real. This isn’t like a ‘coming soon’ message,” Amazon VP for Product and Technology Jay Richman said.
Richman positioned Amazon’s automated video ad creation tool against other offerings such as vaporware and fantastical prototypes. Some of the features available in the AI video ad tool for advertisers include better motion effects that demonstrate how a product works.
For instance, a seller can create a video showing someone wearing a watch and checking the time instead of just showing it on a table. The Amazon advertising tools are ideal for developing ads for items like toys, tools, and wearable accessories.
The machine learning video ads tool leverages product ID to create six different versions of video ads. These capabilities give third party sellers a variety of options to choose from, allowing them to pick the best ads version and customize it with their logo.
Another big upgrade relates to the tools’ ability to combine ads. It places them together to create multiple scenes. These scenes feature different elements including people, pets, text overlays, and background music.
“We had to do a lot to constrain the models to avoid hallucinations or to improve our yield rate. We were kind of optimizing for the floor of creative quality versus the ceiling,” Richman added, pointing to the early stages of developing the video generator.
The new AI advertising tool allows users to generate longer videos that run for up to 21 seconds. This brings the video style closer to traditional TV or YouTube commercials. The final product is also more polished compared to AI-generated clips.
Amazon sellers who prefer short ads for social media or demos can use the video summarization tool to generate shorter versions from existing content. Additionally, users can create GIF-style videos by utilizing a one-click feature to instantly change product images into short GIF clips.
Amazon’s AI video generator tool is built into its Sponsored Brands campaign builder. It pulls data directly from a product’s detail page, including images and customer reviews to guide its AI-powered image and video creation process.
Sellers can also upload their own media like social content, demo footage, or brand logos directly to the tool. Built-in editing tools allow them to fine-tune elements like font, headlines, and logo placement to ensure the final video ads reflect their brand.
With the tool now fully launched, buyers can expect to see a wave of AI-generated ads across Amazon’s ecommerce platform.
