Whistleblowing Directive 6 Steps

In October 2019, the European Council approved the European Union’s Directive for the protection of persons reporting on breaches of Union law (or ‘Whistleblower Protection Directive’). The Directive has been created in response to a series of scandals uncovered in recent years by whistleblowers, including both the Cambridge Analytica scandal and the Panama Papers, which highlighted the lack of protection for those who seek to expose corporate wrongdoing in the public interest.
