Microsoft Adds AI Enhancements to Windows 11 in Fresh Copilot Push

In Focus

  • Microsoft is rolling out AI upgrades to Windows 11
  • Latest upgrade makes Copilot more appealing to users
  • Upgrade comes with voice mode to activate AI assistant

Microsoft has launched a series of AI upgrades to Windows 11. The latest Windows 11 AI enhancements are designed to make Copilot more appealing. According to Reuters, the upgrade allows users to connect with services on other devices and makes task automation easier.

How does “Hey Copilot” Work in Windows 11?

Microsoft Windows AI upgrade comes with a voice mode that allows users to activate the AI assistant by simply saying “Hey Copilot”, instead of clicking or typing. The voice command works on any Windows 11 personal computer.

Microsoft has also expanded Copilot Vision to all markets where the AI assistant is available. Copilot Vision is capable of analyzing content on user screens and giving feedback on documents, video games, and other activities happening on the screen.

For Windows Insiders users, the company is introducing a feature that will allow them to engage Microsoft Copilot Vision via voice and text. Microsoft has also included a Copilot Actions on test mode in the upgrade.

This feature allows Microsoft’s AI assistant to complete real-world tasks like placing orders or making reservations. The software giant says the new agents will work with limited permissions and will only access resources that users allow explicitly.

The main features in the Windows 11 upgrade include:

  • Voice command
  • Expands Copilot Vision to all markets
  • Text option on Copilot Vision for Windows Insiders
  • Test version of Copilot Actions

Focus of Reshaping Computer Experience

Microsoft argues that when it comes to shaping computer experience, Windows 11 Copilot upgrades, particularly the voice mode, will be as transformative as the keyboard and the mouse.
However, the tech giant acknowledges that it will take time for Windows 11 users to adjust and get used to human-computer voice interactions.

“Just like when the mouse came out, people have to figure out when to use it, what’s the right way, how to make it happen,” Executive VP and CMO at Microsoft’s Consumer Division Yusuf Mehdi said.

In 2024, Microsoft allowed enterprises to build autonomous AI agents on Copilot studio.
The software giant has been working to boost the uptake and utilization of Copilot to remain competitive.

Already, its top competitors Meta and Google have added AI assistant features in browsers, devices, and applications. Last month, Google added Gemini AI features to its Chrome browser.

A Sneak Preview of Windows 11 AI Enhancements

  • Users can activate Copilot with a voiced “Hey Copilot”
  • Upgrade allows completion of real-word tasks with Copilot Actions
  • Copilot upgrade makes task automation easier
  • Microsoft is phasing out Windows 10
  • AI upgrade to boost Windows 11 shift and Copilot uptake

Microsoft Entices Users to Shift from Windows 10

Microsoft launched Windows 11 in 2021. With the latest AI update, the company is encouraging users to interact more with personal computers as it phases out Windows 10.

Earlier this week, the tech giant ended free security support on Windows 10, but millions of people still have the operating system running on their personal computers. Microsoft’s new Windows 11 features are aimed at enticing users to upgrade their systems.

On October 15, 2025, the tech giant unveiled the new ‘Gaming Copilot’ feature built into Xbox Ally consoles. The AI assistant supports players with real-time recommendations, tips and support during gameplay.

“We think we’re on the cusp of the next evolution, which is where AI happens, not just in that chatbot, but gets naturally integrated into the hundreds of millions of experiences that people use every day,” Mehdi added.

In 2023, Microsoft integrated third-party AI models into 365 Copilot products as part of diversifying its AI capabilities.
