Ring Pro, the smart ring developed by Ultrahuman has been approved by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The approval comes less than a month after the company launched Ring Pro globally. According to TechCrunch, the move paves the way for the expansion of Ultrahuman Ring Pro in the U.S.

Focus on the U.S. Smart Ring Market

The U.S. is a critical market for Ultrahuman smart rings. In 2025, the smart ring market in North America grew by 59% year-on-year. Ultrahuman sold approximately 2.6 million smart rings in the U.S. last year.

These sales accounted for about 60% of the company’s global sales, which stood at 4.4 million units. In the U.S, Ultrahuman faces smart ring competition from Oura. The latter has expanded its dominance significantly since Ultrahuman suffered import restrictions.

In October 2025, a patent infringement ruling by the U.S. International Trade Commission favored Oura and effectively banned the importation of Ultrahuman smart rings to the U.S. As a result, Ultrahuman lost up to $50 million in sales revenue.

Prior to the ban, the U.S. accounted for approximately 50% of Ultrahuman’s revenue. The company’s market share in the U.S. rose from 11.5% in 2024 to 24.6% in the second quarter of 2025. However, this market share shrank during the import restriction period as the smart ring maker expanded to Asia and Europe.

Plan to Resume U.S. Operations Immediately

Ultrahuman plans to resume U.S. operations immediately. According to CEO Mohit Kumar, the smart ring maker could take five to six months to rebuild supply and distribution channels and scale fully.

Despite the import restrictions, Ultrahuman claims that its main competitor only had a ‘three-month advantage’. Ultrahuman CEO Mohit Kumar said the smart ring maker is looking to regain its lost ground fast. During the restriction period, Oura’s market share expanded from 63.3% to 85%.

Already, the smart ring maker has opened pre-orders for the Ring Pro in the U.S. The company plans to start shipping the smart ring on May 15, 2026. The device costs $399 per unit, with an early pre-order price set at $349 for the initial 1,000 buyers. Ultrahuman launched the Ring Pro smart device in February 2026.

How has Ultrahuman Fixed the Patent Issue?

Ultrahuman said that Ring Pro was in the development stage as part of a wider product upgrade. The company said the patent issue was being fixed with a new design that resolves the matter more definitively.

The redesigned Ultrahuman Ring Pro features a unibody metal structure. This structure was instrumental in securing U.S. clearance and will feature prominently in its comeback. Other improvements in the device include enhanced on-device processing and an extended battery life.

As part of expanding its product lineup, Ultrahuman is working on a wearable device that tracks other biomarkers. Existing products track metrics such as heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, sleep stages, and oxygen levels in the blood.
