Tesla Launches New V4 Superchargers in China, Open to All EVs

Tesla V4 Superchargers have officially gone live in China. The company has rolled out the first batch of these fast chargers in cities like Shanghai, Chongqing, and provinces such as Gansu and Zhejiang. As reported by Reuters, for the first time, these new chargers won’t be just for Tesla cars; they’ll also be open to other electric vehicle (EV) brands. This move is a big step toward building a more connected and accessible EV charging network in China.

Faster Charging for Everyone, Not Just Tesla Drivers

The V4 Superchargers are Tesla’s newest and fastest chargers. While the older V3 models offered speeds up to 250 kW, the Tesla V4’s fast charging stations can go up to 500 kW. That means your car can charge in much less time, great for people on the go.

These new chargers also have longer charging cables, which makes it easier for non-Tesla EVs to use them. Tesla has confirmed that it will gradually open the V4 chargers to other EV brands, not just its own. In the company’s words, “The superchargers will be open to other electric vehicle brands.”

This is a big win for all EV owners in China. Until now, many drivers had to stick to brand-specific charging stations. Tesla’s move helps solve that problem with more open chargers. It’ll be easier for everyone to drive longer distances without worrying about running out of battery power.

This also supports the fast-growing EV charging network in China, which is working to keep up with the rising number of electric vehicles on the road. Tesla’s decision makes it easier for people to consider switching to EVs, knowing they’ll have more places to charge, whether they drive a Tesla or not.

Tesla’s Charging Network in China Just Got Stronger

Tesla has already built a strong network of chargers across China. Now, with the launch of the V4 version, it’s taking things to the next level. The company said it will soon add more of these chargers to big areas like Beijing, Guangdong, and other key regions.

This upgrade is more than just adding more stations; it’s about making charging faster, easier, and more open to everyone. The V4 Superchargers are built to handle the needs of current and future electric cars. They support both 400V and 800V systems, which means they’re ready for next-generation vehicles too.

China is one of the world’s biggest markets for electric vehicles. With more than a dozen local EV brands competing in the space, Tesla’s move to open its charging stations to all makes a lot of sense. It’s not just about helping Tesla drivers; it’s about improving the EV infrastructure in China as a whole.

Plus, having more Tesla charging stations in China open to the public can help reduce “range anxiety”, the worry about not finding a charger when your battery is low. The more places people can charge, the more confident they’ll feel about owning an EV.

What’s Next?

Tesla says this is just the beginning. The company plans to keep expanding the V4 network across China, covering more cities and making fast charging more available to everyone.

So, whether you drive a Tesla or another EV, you might soon find a V4 Supercharger nearby. And when you do, you’ll be able to plug in, charge fast, and get back on the road in no time.

By launching Tesla V4 Superchargers in China and opening them up to other brands, Tesla is helping to build a stronger, smarter, and more accessible EV charging network for the future.
