Tesla is planning to expand the supercharging network in India in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru as it plans to start deliveries by september, The Economic Times reported. This move comes after the company entered the Indian market in July this year.
The expansion of Tesla’s supercharging network in India will focus on strategic locations to ensure smooth long-distance travel for electric vehicle owners. Tesla’s new charging stations in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru will be set up near highways, business districts, and popular public spaces.
Tesla’s approach is to make EV charging as quick and convenient as refueling a petrol car. The company’s Superchargers can power up a vehicle in under an hour, which could help ease concerns about range and charging time among potential buyers. In June, Tesla launched V4 superchargers in China, which will not just charge its own cars but also all EV cars.
This network expansion is closely tied to Tesla’s upcoming vehicle launch. The first batch of Tesla’s Model Y is expected to be delivered in India in September 2025. Industry observers say that aligning the rollout of EVs with charging infrastructure will give Tesla a stronger start in the competitive Indian market.
By ensuring that EV chargers in India are in place before customers take delivery, Tesla aims to provide a seamless ownership experience from day one. In July, Tesla launched its first showroom in Mumbai amidst high tariffs at $70,000.
In addition to charging points, Tesla is also planning to enhance its EV support services in India. This will include dedicated service centers, on-site repair teams, and mobile service vans for quick assistance. Such steps are seen as crucial in building trust with first-time EV buyers in India. Tesla’s focus on after-sales service signals that is thinking beyond just selling cars it wants to create a complete ecosystem for electric mobility.
Tesla’s plans to build charging stations in Delhi Mumbai Bengaluru are part of a larger strategy to make India one of its key markets in Asia. While the initial rollout focuses on three cities, the company is expected to expand into other metro areas and high-traffic corridors over the next few years.
With Tesla’s Model Y delivering in India in September 2025 on the horizon and an expanded charging network, Tesla is positioning itself to capture early demand and set high standards for EV infrastructure in the country. The coming months will reveal just how quickly Tesla’s supercharging network in India can transform the EV experience for Indian drivers.
