SpaceX New Funding Round in Talks at $400 Billion Valuation

SpaceX is in talks to raise more money through a new funding round that could increase its value to around $400 billion, according to a report from TechCrunch. If the plan proceeds, it would represent a significant leap from SpaceX’s last known valuation of $350 billion, which was established during a similar tender offer in December 2024. Talks with investors are still ongoing, and the final details of the deal, including the share price, could change.

SpaceX’s Value Keeps Rising

SpaceX’s value has grown rapidly over the years. In 2021, the company crossed the $100 billion mark. Just three years later, its valuation more than tripled. If this new deal goes through, it will be worth $400 billion, making SpaceX one of the most valuable private companies in the world.

The company’s strong position in the space industry has helped attract investors. SpaceX is known for its Falcon rockets, Starship program, and Starlink satellite internet service. These projects are not only successful but also bring in billions in revenue.

The funding round includes two parts. First, new shares will be offered to current investors to raise fresh capital. Second, a tender offer will be held so employees can sell some of their shares. This gives employees a chance to benefit from the company’s high value, even though it’s not a public company.

SpaceX usually holds these tender offers twice a year. It’s a way for employees to make money from the shares they’ve earned, and for outside investors to buy into the company. This is normally not easy since SpaceX is private.

Staying private also gives SpaceX more control. It doesn’t have to follow the strict rules that public companies follow, and it can focus on long-term goals, like building rockets to go to Mars. Elon Musk has said in the past that SpaceX won’t go public until it starts doing regular missions to Mars.

What the Deal Means for Employees and Investors

The tender offer is especially important for employees. Since SpaceX is not listed on the stock market, workers can’t normally sell their shares. These special deals give them a rare chance to turn their company stock into cash.

Only a small group of investors will be allowed to buy shares from employees. Because of this, demand is high, and the shares are seen as very valuable. It’s a win for employees, who get rewarded, and for investors, who get access to a fast-growing company.

Raising new money also helps SpaceX fund its big projects. The company is building powerful new rockets, growing the Starlink internet service, and working with NASA on space missions. All of this costs a lot of money. By bringing in more investment, SpaceX can move faster and stay ahead of its competitors.

Elon Musk plays a major role in attracting attention and investment. His bold plans for the future, including human missions to Mars, keep investors interested, even though space is a risky business. Still, many believe SpaceX has the technology and team to succeed.

If this new funding round is successful, SpaceX will become the most valuable private company in the U.S. It will stand ahead of companies like OpenAI and Stripe and show just how far it has come since its early days.

For now, the deal is not final, and the exact details could change. But one thing is clear that SpaceX continues to aim high, and investors are eager to be a part of the journey.
