- The update includes the Vitalis feature that tracks biometric signals during sleep
- Samsung will start rolling out the new features on June 8, 2026
Samsung has revamped the Health app with new features ahead of the Galaxy Watch 9 series release next month. The latest update turns the Galaxy Watch into an intelligent health partner that tracks more metrics.
Using advanced sensors and AI-powered insights, the device can monitor key health metrics and offer personalized wellness recommendations. The new features will start rolling out on June 8, 2026.
“Samsung Health is evolving to connect health data measured by Galaxy Watch with AI-based insights, enabling users to understand their physical and mental condition more easily and intuitively,” Samsung’s Senior VP and Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience Business, Hon Pak stated in a company statement.
How Does the Samsung Health App Monitor Sleep?
One of the new features in the Samsung Health App is the Vitalis feature. This tool tracks biometric signals like the heart rate, respiratory rate, variations in heart rate and skin temperature throughout the night. Like the Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch also monitors oxygen levels in the blood using the Vitalis feature.
The new tool compares the data with the actual resting baseline and notifies users when it detects changes. Another feature that users can expect to find in the Galaxy Watch health monitoring app is the Heart Health Score.
This tool replaces the Vascular Load tracking tool. It is designed to monitor a user’s stress, sleep, and activity levels. The Samsung Health App combines this information with the body composition to generate a unified score that helps in identifying which habits could affect the well-being of a user in future.
Samsung Health App Comes With a New Fitness Feature
Samsung is introducing the Fitness Index, a new feature that analyzes metrics such as heart rate, daily steps, and aerobic fitness. The feature offers users insights that are customized to their fitness goals.
“By clearly identifying individual physical strengths and weaknesses, it delivers tailored content and personalized goals so users can make continuous, targeted improvements,”
Another tool, the Daily Cardio Load tool monitors cardiovascular strain during aerobic exercise. The feature calculates daily load and maximum training capacity for users then suggests rest times and optimal targets to prevent overtraining.
In addition to the new feature, Samsung has redesigned the Samsung Health App interface. The new interface organizes health data into five categories namely Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals. The update also places daily health recommendations and the AI-driven Energy Score front and center on the app’s home screen.
When Will Galaxy Watch 9 Launch?
Samsung plans to launch Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch 9 Classic on July 22, 2026 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. The tech giant introduced the new Galaxy Watch features at a time when competition in the wearable industry continues to intensify.
Recently, Oura launched Ring 5, a smart ring that can monitor blood pressure signals and nighttime breathing. Like Galaxy Watch 9, Ring 5 can detect changes and patterns of possible cardiovascular strain.
