Samsung Electronics says customers have expressed strong confidence in its next-generation high-bandwidth memory chips, HBM4. According to Reuters, customers praised Samsung Electronics’s HBM4 chip progress, with some remarking that the company was back.

The feedback shows that Samsung Electronics is now competing in the highest segment of memory chip technology. The company’s stock prices soared 7.17% to a new high after the company said it had regained its technological edge in memory chips.

Samsung to Boost HBM4 Competitiveness

But Samsung has to do more to boost its HBM4 memory competitiveness. The company emphasized renewed focus on reclaiming leadership in memory chip technology and announced a shift in contract chip production operations.

We must restore our fundamental technological leadership in memory. The foundry business has entered a phase of full-scale growth: Grounded in technology and trust, we must turn opportunity into tangible achievements,” Samsung Electronics co-CEO and Chip Chief, Jun Young-hyun said as per Korea JoongAng Daily.

Jun further underscored the need for the company to take a more customer-focused approach as opposed to a product-driven one. In July 2025, Samsung signed a $16.5 billion deal with Tesla to manufacture its next-generation AI6 chip.

Focus on the Memory Chip Market

Samsung is holding close talks with NVIDIA about the supply of its HBM4. The Samsung and NVIDIA HBM4 discussions are aimed at giving the company an edge in the memory chip market.

The South Korean firm faces stiff competition from SK Hynix, which strengthened its memory chip leadership in 2025 after it announced readiness for mass HBM4 production. The company is a major HBM supplier for NVIDIA, and considers itself as a full stack AI memory creator.

SK hynix is now recognized as a market leader across key areas, and the roles and responsibilities expected of the company have also grown accordingly,” SK Hynix President and CEO Kwak Noh-jung stated as per the Korea JoongAng Daily.

SK Hynix is also adopting a customer-centered approach to its production in 2026. Samsung is preparing to expand its semiconductor memory market size days after the U.S. government allowed it to ship chipmaking equipment to its factory in China.

Samsung Prioritizes AI Transformation

Samsung also plans to prioritize AI transformation as global demand for memory chips increases. The company is looking to accelerate productivity and operating speeds by embedding AI into its decision-making processes and workflows.

AI transformation is not merely a tool, it is a fundamental shift in how we think and work,” Samsung Electronics President Roh Tae-moon mentioned as stated by the Korea JoongAng Daily.

Samsung’s technological capabilities could transform challenges into new opportunities. The company underscored agility and flexibility as critical for detecting and responding to market shifts in real time.
