Salesforce Eyes Agentic Operating System with Latest Slack AI Upgrade
In Focus
- The upgrade brings 30 new AI features to Slack
- Salesforce will make these features available over the coming months
- The company introduced the Reusable AI Skills feature in Slackbot
- Slackbot now integrates with Agentforce and other third-party enterprise tools
Salesforce has revealed an upgraded version of Slack in a move that indicates that the company is reshaping its AI business. According to a report by TechCrunch, the Slack AI upgrade from Salesforce includes 30 new AI features, which include a revamped Slackbot. The company will roll out over the coming months.
Slack’s AI features update comes after the company introduced agent capabilities to the collaborative tool in January 2026. These improvements included the ability to schedule meetings, draft emails, and extract information from users’ inboxes.
Salesforce Adds Reusable AI Skills to Slackbot
A notable feature that Salesforce has introduced in Slackbot is reusable AI skills. This feature enables users to define specific tasks in multiple scenarios. The software giant has included a built-in library of AI skills in Slackbot. However, users have the option of creating and customizing their own.
Slack’s reusable AI skills feature significantly reduces manual work for users. For instance, if a user issues the “create a budget” command for an upcoming event, Slackbot gathers relevant information from the Slack channels and connected apps to generate an actionable plan. The AI bot also schedules a meeting and invites relevant teams based on their roles.
Slackbot Gets Smarter with New AI Agent
Salesforce says Slack AI task management features enable Slackbot to transcribe and summarize meeting discussions. This means users can follow meeting resolutions with ease, and even request a recap highlighting key points and assigned action items where need arises.
Beyond Slack, the new AI agents can monitor desktop activity and collect diverse context data like calendars, conversations, and user habits. With this data, the AI agents can suggest next steps for users or draft follow-ups for important tasks.
Another notable improvement in Slackbot agent capabilities is the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Slackbot now runs the MCP platform, which supports integration with other tools and services, including the Salesforce AI agent development platform, Agentforce. With this integration, Slackbot can route tasks and queries to Agentforce or other third-party enterprise apps.
What Next for Salesforce?
The release of AI agents positions Salesforce in direct competition with tech giants like Microsoft in the productivity industry. Over the last two years, Microsoft has focused on integrating its Copilot assistant across its productivity suite. Earlier this week, the Windows maker started rolling out early access to Copilot Cowork on the 365 Frontier Program.
An AI-powered Slack is the most explicit push by Salesforce to make Slack an agentic operating system. The software giant is looking to build a unified interface where employees interact with AI agents, enterprise tools, and each other.
