Reportedly Pixel 5 is Getting Big GPU Performance

Recently, Google has started rolling out new April Android security updates for Pixel phones. In their new updates, to the most recent devices, they have brought some performance improvement features.   

According to Google, the update includes “performance optimizations for certain graphics-intensive apps and games” on the Pixel 5 and 4A.   

Some of their testers are observing substantially improved GPU performance on the Pixel 5 noted XDA Developers 

 Previously, Anandtech has found that the Pixel phones turn into much worse GPU results than other phones. They have also pointed out other devices that are using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chip.

Andrei Frumusanu, the site’s reviewer, says that performance on his Pixel has been doubled from the initial figures. It is now “inline or better than other 765G phones.”   

We all know that benchmarks will not necessarily translate into real-world results. But with Google’s combined reference to optimizations, it does sound like the GPU performance for graphics-intensive apps should be better with the new release.  

Besides, the company says that, in some third-party apps, the Pixel 5 and 4A should have received “improvements to its camera quality”.

Also, there’s a fix for a startup that is freezing bugs on Pixel 4 and 5 devices. Additionally, they are available for missing home grid settings on phones of generations Pixel 3 and 4.
