One of the most hyped events in India’s EV segment this year is Ola’s new bike launch. Unveiled at Ola’s annual conference in 2024, the Roadster X received a lot of attention due to its sleek design, sporty look, and promise of high-performance capabilities. According to Financial Express, CEO, Bhavesh Aggarwal posted on X, saying “Roadster X deliveries starting this Friday! Excited to see customers experience our bike.” After a delay in the deliveries of the Roadster X three times, the electric motorcycle will finally be available from May 23 onwards.”
While Ola has not revealed everything yet, some key details have been shared. The Roadster X specifications are expected to include a strong mid-mounted motor, advanced suspension, and premium disc brakes on both ends. The bike also features a digital instrument cluster, likely powered by Ola’s own software interface. It is expected to have a top speed of over 100 kmph and a range of approximately 150 km on a full charge.
Ola Electric’s Roadster X comes in two key variants: the Roadster X and the Roadster X+. The standard model is offered with three battery options—2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. Each variant is equipped with a 7-kW electric motor that delivers 9.4 bhp.
Top speed varies with the battery pack, going up to 118 kmph. The bike can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 3.1 seconds. The 4.5 kWh version offers a claimed range of 252 km on a full charge.
Ola’s Roadster X series price will start at INR 74,999 for the standard Roadster X. The Roadster X+ with a 4.5 kWh battery is priced at INR 1,04,999. This pricing is competitive when compared to traditional fuel-powered motorcycles and is in line with the Ola’s EV motorcycle’s price bracket.
With the launch of Ola’s Roadster X, the company is venturing beyond its S1 electric scooter, which has been a crowd favorite. The expansion to motorcycles is a deliberate strategy as India’s demand for EVs keeps rising. The firm feels the Roadster X will not only deliver on performance but reposition electric bikes in people’s minds as well.
Ola Electric is also expanding its Hypercharger network in key cities. This would enable Roadster X riders to charge their bikes with ease and gain confidence on long journeys.
The launch of the Roadster X may prove to be a game-changer in the Indian electric motorcycle market. With competitive pricing, cutting-edge design, and high-end features, it has everything that makes for a successful EV launch. As Ola Roadster X’s launch time approaches, everyone will be watching how the new model performs and how it makes electric mobility in India shape up.
