Nvidia, a major chipmaker from the United States, has announced its latest billion-dollar partnership with the Saudi 10 billion-valued AI startup Humain. As reported by Financial Express, during his Gulf tour, former U.S. President Donald Trump helped announce a series of tech collaborations between American companies and Middle Eastern firms.
The Nvidia partnership with Humain represents the largest AI deal, intended to make Saudi Arabia a world leader in the use of artificial intelligence.
Saudi Arabia announced the launch of Humain, a new AI venture funded with its sovereign wealth fund, which will work to create sophisticated AI technology. Nvidia’s $10 billion partnership will see the chipmaker deliver hundreds of thousands of AI chips to the startup. The first batch includes 18,000 of Nvidia’s latest “Blackwell” chips.
Nvidia it will work with Humain to build “AI factories” powered by up to 500 megawatts of computing capacity. “We are building a globally significant AI platform,” said AMD CEO Lisa Su, whose company also signed a $10 billion deal with Humain.
Qualcomm also entered into the venture where it agreed to a memorandum of understanding to contribute to the development of data center CPU. These deals indicate Saudi Arabia’s drive to diversify away from oil and transform to a leading AI center.
As a part of Trump’s tech visit to Gulf, he held meetings with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman who also heads Humain. The Trump administration said that the former president had brought $600 billion business commitments from Saudi Arabia for U.S companies.
During Trump’s Saudi Arabia visit, some of the big names in the tech industry, such as Google, Oracle, Salesforce, Uber, and AMD pledged to invest $ 80 billion in next-gen tech, both in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. The White House also disclosed that Saudi-based DataVolt will make a $20 billion investment towards building AI data centers and energy infrastructure in the U.S.
“This is a really, really big initiative for the Kingdom. In building an AI company, you need the foundation and the infrastructure,” said Humain CEO Tareq Amin during the launch event in Riyadh.
As part of Nvidia’s $10 billion AI agreement, Humain and Nvidia will set up several AI factories over the next five years. These facilities are going to rely on Nvidia’s luxury GPUs and cloud computing tools in the provision of superior AI services.
AMD will also provide its CPUs, GPUs, and technology for its AI cloud platform to support Humain’s business activities. “Together, we are delivering performance, openness, and reach at unprecedented levels,” according to AMD’s senior vice president, Keith Strier.
Humain collaborated with both Nvidia and AMD to avoid dependence on one given vendor. “Countries realize that they need to build infrastructure in a resilient, diverse way,” Strier said.
Humain under Saudi Public Investment Fund will offer AI infrastructure, cloud services and state-of-the-art AI models. The new company will, however, provide state of the art solutions for both industries within and outside of Saudi Arabia.
Next, Trump is to visit the United Arab Emirates. Reports indicate that the Trump government is close to a deal whereby the UAE will be allowed to purchase a lot of NVidia AI chips.
