Microsoft is introducing an AI-powered medical insights feature called Copilot Health. According to Gadgets360, the new tool runs from a dedicated space within the Copilot environment. Users can populate the tool with their health data from different sources. The Copilot AI healthcare assistant analyzes the data and generates personalized insights.
New Tool is Built for Personalization
According to Microsoft, Copilot Health is designed to address the gap in personalized health insights. The tool provides a space where users can share data from their health records, lab tests, and wearable data. Copilot Health then analyzes the data and generates personalized medical insights for users.
The tool also generates responses to user queries about the medical issues they may be facing. With Microsoft’s AI health data analysis tool, users can ask queries about their ailments and general well-being. The Windows maker says the tool can help users prepare questions before visiting a doctor.
The AI-powered tool also serves as a search engine. It helps users to find doctors based on parameters like specialty, location, and whether their insurance would be accepted by the healthcare provider.
Microsoft introduced Copilot Health at a time when major tech companies have launched AI-powered tools in the healthcare sector. Earlier this week, Amazon expanded its Health AI assistant to its website. The AI assistant is designed to respond to user queries and explain health records.
Broad Data Integration Capabilities
Users can capitalize on Copilot Health’s medical records analysis capabilities to enhance the responses they receive. The tool is designed to integrate with HealthEx, a cloud platform that aggregates data from healthcare providers across the U.S. With active integration, the AI tool incorporates information like summaries from doctor consultation in query responses.
“We’ve improved the quality and reliability of answers by elevating information from credible health organizations across 50 countries, as verified by our clinical team using principles independently established by the National Academy of Medicine,” Microsoft stated in a blog post.
Additionally, Copilot Health can draw lab results from medical testing provider, Function Health Inc. As part of wearable data integration, Copilot Health is compatible with more than 50 devices and platforms. These include Apple Watch, Fitbit, and Oura smart ring. These devices generate a wide range of user data including heart rate, temperature, and sleep patterns.
Copilot Health is set to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Health which launched earlier this year. The AI tool responds to health-related queries and enables users to link medical records and wellness apps to ChatGPT.
What Does Copilot Health Mean for Microsoft?
Microsoft says that its medical analysis tool responds to over 50 million user queries per day. In the responses, Copilot Health responses include citations and links to content sources. Users also have access to expert responses from Harvard Health.
The AI-powered tool is rolling out in the U.S. to users above 18 in the English language. Microsoft plans to add more languages and voice options as it expands to other regions.
