Meta Targets Multi-Agent Systems With New Muse Spark AI Model
In Focus
- Muse Spark is the inaugural AI model from Meta’s Superintelligence Lab
- The AI model deploys multiple AI agents simultaneously
- Muse Spark can generate responses to health questions for users
Meta has launched a new AI model known as Muse Spark. The tech company said the model is the first in its Muse series, developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. Meta’s Muse Spark AI model comes months after the company overhauled its AI unit, and hired Scale AI’s Alexandr Wang to lead Meta Superintelligence Labs.
“Over the last nine months, Meta Superintelligence Labs rebuilt our AI stack from the ground up, moving faster than any development cycle we have run before. This initial model is small and fast by design, yet capable enough to reason through complex questions in science, math, and health. It is a powerful foundation, and the next generation is already in development,” Meta stated on its website.
How Muse Spark Handles Complex Tasks
The social media giant plans to release a ‘Contemplating’ mode designed to handle complex tasks. Meta said its Muse Spark deploys multiple AI agents simultaneously on a single task. The company claimed that this feature speeds up results in its ‘Contemplating’ mode.
“To spend more test-time reasoning without drastically increasing latency, we can scale the number of parallel agents that collaborate to solve hard problems,” the company noted.
Following the launch of Muse Spark out, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company continues to build more products and will be releasing advanced AI models from its Meta Superintelligence Labs moving forward. Meta’s new AI model is accessible via the web and on the MetaAI app.
“Looking ahead, we plan to release increasingly advanced models that push the frontier of intelligence and capabilities, including new open source models. We are building products that don’t just answer your questions but act as agents that do things for you,” Zuckerberg said on Threads.
Targeting the Health Sector
Meta appears to be eying the health sector with its AI ecosystem upgrade. According to the social media giant, Muse Spark can generate responses to users’ health-related questions. OpenAI and Anthropic have added similar capabilities in their AI chatbots.
OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health, a feature that allows users to securely link third-party wellness apps and medical records with the AI chatbot. As Meta targets the health sector, concerns over privacy will likely emerge.
To log in to Muse Spark, users are required to use existing accounts on Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Meta has not stated whether its AI models will use the personal data from these accounts. Given the company’s history of training models on public user data, it’s highly likely they would.
Catching Up With the AI Race
Meta introduced Muse Spark following an AI model overhaul that saw the company spend billions in the artificial intelligence industry to catch up with competitors. The company’s high-stake AI investment came after its Llama 4 open-source model received poor reception and senior staff quit the company.
In 2025, Meta’s invested a $14.3 billion investment in data labeling company, Scale AI for a 49% stake. The social media giant has been lagging behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Anthropic’s Claude.
