- Meta’s AI autoreplies allow sellers to respond to buyer queries faster
- Sellers can also automate product listing and shipping labels
- Facebook Marketplace gets over 3.5 billion listings daily in the U.S. and Canada
Meta is adding new AI-powered features to Facebook Marketplace. According to TechCrunch, the new tools are designed to enable sellers to list more items and for shoppers to find what they need faster. One of the features introduced to Facebook Marketplace is an AI autoreply tool which sends automated replies to messages from interested shoppers.
AI Feature Solves a Common Challenge for Sellers
Meta’s AI messaging assistant for sellers is designed to address common challenges that merchants on Facebook Marketplace face. Sellers receive numerous inquiries from buyers and struggle to find time to respond to them.
Some of the queries are often redundant. For instance, a buyer can ask whether an item is available even when it has already been marked as available. The new AI-powered replies for buyer inquiries feature paves the way for merchants to draft responses with the help of artificial intelligence.
Meta AI for Marketplace sellers crafts the responses based on the information available on product listings, which includes availability, description, price, and pickup location. To make communication faster and more reliable, sellers have the option of enabling, editing, and reviewing autoreplies when setting up product listings.
Meta introduced AI automated responses on Facebook Marketplace months after the social media giant announced that it would be testing AI subscriptions on Instagram and WhatsApp.
Meta AI Automates Product Listing on Marketplace
Besides the AI automated responses on Facebook, Meta is making it easier and faster for merchants to list products on the Marketplace.
“You can now upload your item images and let Meta AI do the rest automatically, creating a draft listing, filling in details, and even suggesting a price based on similar items listed in your area,” Meta said in a blog post.
Meta has also expanded shipping options on Marketplace. This move allows merchants to auto-generate prepaid shipping labels and even manage orders from a simple dashboard. Additionally, Meta AI can generate profile summaries for Marketplace sellers.
The summaries appear at the top of a seller’s profile and include details such as when the user joined Marketplace, their listing history, the items they sell, and seller ratings. Last year, Meta announced plans to personalize content based on the way users interact with its AI tools.
What Automated Responses Mean for Meta
With over 3.5 billion daily listings in the U.S. and Canada, Facebook Marketplace is Meta’s largest platform for linking sellers and buyers. Individuals use the platform to sell and buy consumer items like electronics, home decor, and clothing.
The latest changes are aimed at enabling merchants to sell more efficiently on the Facebook Marketplace. The new AI features are part of the wider Meta AI integrations on Facebook Marketplace.
