  • Apple is expected to launch iPhone Fold later this year
  • The camera design reportedly resembles that of rumored iPhone Air
  • The new smartphone is expected to feature a 7.8-inch internal display

Apple is working to launch the first foldable smartphone later this year. According to Gadgets360, the new smartphone will be marketed as iPhone Fold, and will be introduced alongside iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Although Apple hasn’t confirmed the launch, some details of the iPhone Fold design have leaked.

A Book-Style Design for iPhone Fold

The leak was in the form of Computer-aided design (CAD) renders showing a book-style presentation. The iPhone Fold CAD renders offer the clearest view of the device yet and reveal several design details of the device.

The images were shared online by well-known tech reviewer, Sonny Dickson. The reviewer posted two images on X showing the 3D CAD rendering files of the device in its folded and unfolded form.

The files highlight the rear design of the expected iPhone Fold. This design aligns perfectly with previously reported hardware specifications. The CAD renders also show that Apple may be exploring a distinctive design approach as it develops its first foldable smartphone.

iPhone Fold design leaked days after Apple launched iPhone 17e with MagSafe to strengthen its entry-tier smartphone lineup with targeted upgrades.

Dual Rear Camera for Apple’s Foldable iPhone

An important element in the leaked iPhone Fold camera design renderings is the raised camera module at the back of the device. The camera design reportedly resembles the one seen on the rumored iPhone Air.

But instead of a single lens, the foldable iPhone appears to feature a dual rear camera. The selfie camera seems to be centered on the cover. This could mean that it will be placed on the top-left corner of the foldable screen.

The CAD renderings also point to an unusual design detail involving a hinge. The device appears to feature two rounded corners and two squared ones. The squared edges likely show the area where the hinge mechanism will be positioned. This design could help support the folding structure while maintaining the device’s durability.

In terms of size, the foldable iPhone is expected to feature a 7.8-inch internal display and a 5.3-inch cover screen. The device might be equipped with Apple’s C2 modem to improve network connectivity. iPhone Fold is reportedly built with a chassis that combines titanium and aluminium.

What Other Features Can Users Expect

iPhone Fold specifications also include flat front and rear panels. From the CAD renderings, the back panel seems to have a design similar to that of iPhone 17 Pro. Below the camera island, the design features a separate glass section with the Apple logo.

In addition to the dual rear camera, the new design features an LED flash and a secondary microphone. iPhone Fold is reportedly expected to come with a speaker grille and USB Type-C ports at the bottom. Besides the power and volume control buttons, the new smartphone features an unspecified third button on the right side, which is reportedly an Action button.
