The Indian government has put a temporary pause on the acceptance of new proposals under the third round of the IndiaAI Mission. The deadline for IndiaAI proposal submissions has been established as April 22, 2025. According to The Economic Times, the government had received around 190 applications for the 2nd round under the AI mission.
The statement said, “We continue to receive a high volume of applications in the ongoing phase 3 (16th March to present). In light of the large volume of responses received till now, it has been decided to pause acceptance of new applications. To ensure all applications that are in process are accommodated, the deadline for submission for phase 3 has been extended by 7 days”
The reason behind the April 22 deadline for IndiaAI proposal is to allow the government to carefully review and process the large number of applications already submitted. According to the IndiaAI Mission’s supervising body Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) the temporary suspension aids them in improving both the approval quality and supporting the most promising projects.
The government now has the necessary time to evaluate AI solutions which meet national objectives throughout healthcare, agriculture, education and finance sectors.
