  • NotebookLM now supports EPUB book uploads for AI summaries
  • Users can convert books into podcasts with AI presenters
  • Custom infographics available in 10 styles and multiple layouts

Google’s NotebookLM, the AI-powered research assistant, has introduced new features to make learning and content creation more interactive, according to The Indian Express. Users can now upload EPUB books directly and convert them into AI-generated podcast episodes, slide decks, and visual summaries.

Google Expands NotebookLM

The platform highlighted the update on Twitter, stating, “For everyone who saw our basketball post and thought, ‘I’d rather be in the library…’ this one’s for you. You can now upload ePub files as sources!”

These enhancements allow students, researchers, and professionals to process large volumes of text efficiently, saving time and improving comprehension.

Custom Infographics and Multimedia Summaries

The latest NotebookLM release introduces an AI infographic generator with 10 predefined styles, including Sketch, Professional, Scientific, and Anime. Users can select portrait, landscape, or square layouts and choose between concise, standard, or detailed information levels.

Additionally, the NotebookLM AI video summaries feature creates short, narrated video overviews from uploaded content. Complementing this, the Audio Overview podcast allows two AI presenters to narrate summaries, with optional user participation.

Together, these features turn traditional text-based learning into a multimodal experience, making complex material easier to understand and retain.

Impact on Learning and Productivity

With these upgrades, Google NotebookLM’s new features significantly enhance research and productivity workflows. Users can quickly convert books into podcasts, infographics, slides, and videos, making information more accessible and engaging.

The integration of the AI podcast feature, along with infographics and video summaries, is expected to reshape digital learning and knowledge management practices for both students and professionals.
These updates also align with recent Google Gemini AI Workspace enhancements, which provide source-grounded AI responses to improve efficiency and collaboration.
