Google has adjusted access limits to free use of two of its latest AI models. According to the Business Standard, the company introduced Nano Banana Pro and Gemini 3 Pro limits after usage surged following the launch of the two models.
Free-Tier Limits to Change Based on System Load
Free-tier subscribers have previously enjoyed fixed daily limits. Google has replaced these limits with variable caps and said that access could change frequently based on system load. The search giant introduced Nano Banana Pro limits weeks after rolling out Gemini 3 Pro.
Google released this advanced AI model earlier this month and integrated it into the Gemini App and AI mode in search. Following the Gemini 3 Pro release, the tech company allowed free subscribers to run a maximum of five thinking prompts per day. Free-tier users could also generate up to three images with Nano Banana Pro per day.
At the same time, free users will not be able to access the newly launched Infographics and Slide Decks features, which are powered by Nano Banana Pro, on NotebookLM. These access limits come after Google temporarily removed the Decks from NotebookLM due to capacity constraints. These changes have also affected Pro subscribers, who are now experiencing increased restrictions.
“Due to overwhelming demand, we’re experiencing some capacity constraints; however, we plan on bringing everything back to normal as soon as we can,” Google stated, as per the Business Standard.
What has changed in Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro Access?
Google is changing free subscriber usage of Gemini 3 Pro to “Basic access.” According to the company’s updated usage note, this type of access does not have a fixed daily prompt count but states that limits will fluctuate depending on demand. This represents a major shift from the previous five prompts a day offered to free users.
The company’s usage note also shows that Google AI Plus subscribers would get “up to 5x more access than basic” subscribers. The search engine firm has also limited the number of images that free-tier users can generate per day to two.
Growing Demand for Gemini 3 Pro
According to Google, demand for its Gemini 3 Pro image generation service remains high, and limits could fluctuate on a daily basis. Google introduced usage limits for free-tier users days after Adobe integrated Gemini 3 Nano Banana Pro into Photoshop and Firefly.
The design software firm gave paid users unlimited image generation access until December 1, 2025. Adobe introduced AI-powered content creation tools to smartphones following the launch of the Firefly app on mobile devices in June 2025.
Gemini 3 Pro usage remains unchanged for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Although Google said its access limits have been triggered by the Gemini 3 rollout usage surge, it did not elaborate more about its capacity challenges.
