Google Launches AI-Powered Restaurant Booking Feature in India
In Focus
- The agentic feature allows users to conduct restaurant research via AI Mode in Search
- Users can make specific queries when booking restaurants
- Google has partnered with Zomato and Swiggy to deliver the service in India
Google is introducing a new agentic feature in AI Mode in India. The feature allows users to search, compare, and make restaurant reservations via Search. Google’s AI restaurant reservation feature can handle multi-step requests, eliminating the need to switch between different platforms
New Agent Allows Users to Make Specific Queries
AI Mode in Search delivers detailed, AI-generated responses directly on the results page. It also shows real-time availability from various platforms. The latest agentic feature upgrade enables AI Mode in Search to understand multiple parameters and use them to process detailed booking requests.
These parameters include date, time, party size, location, and preferred cuisine. Users can make specific queries during booking or request more details. Instead of searching for “restaurants near me”, a user can include details like their preferred cuisine and location in their prompts.
Using the prompt, Google’s AI-powered restaurant booking feature scans multiple sources to identify suitable options. According to Google, the new agentic feature in AI Mode Search can check availability on multiple platforms in real-time.
It generates results and displays a curated list of restaurants that match user preferences. Google introduced the new AI feature in India almost a year after the company launched AI Mode for Search in India.
Focus on Streamlining Restaurant Reservations
The new Google Search AI automation feature is designed to streamline restaurant reservations and turn the process into a single-step interaction. Once the results generated meet a user’s preference, the agentic AI in Google Search feature displays links to booking pages. Users can use these links to complete their reservations directly.
On the back end, the Google AI Mode booking system combines multiple systems to deliver real-time results. The system uses Google AI models as well as live web browsing through Project Mariner. It is designed to integrate directly with Search to access up-to-date information.
The AI-powered restaurant reservation feature is supported by Knowledge Graph and Google Maps data. In India, it connects with food delivery platforms like Swiggy, EazyDiner, and Zomato to retrieve restaurant listings and availability.
Why the AI Update in India Matters for Google
A report by Gadgets360 shows the new feature is currently rolling out in India, with more partner integrations and use cases expected later. The update is part of Google’s wider strategy to expand its Gemini AI ecosystem in the Asian country.
In recent months, the tech giant has introduced other producers, which include expanded Search Live language support through the Gemini 3.1 Flash Live model.
The AI update has also improved shopping in AI Mode in India, making it easier for users to browse, compare, and buy products. The move reduces the need for keyword searches as users access product listings, comparison tables, prices, and purchase links within the chat.
