Glance is launching its AI-powered platform, Glance AI on Samsung smartphones in the United States, according to Business Standard. In a move that signals deeper tech integration between hardware and content, Google-backed Glance AI will soon power the lock screen experience of Samsung Galaxy phones sold in the US market.
Naveen Tewari, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Glance, said, “Glance AI helps consumers discover and visualize what is possible—starting with an outfit that makes them look and feel great—and own it with just a tap on the platform. Samsung’s commitment to enable Glance AI across its US devices will enable consumers to enjoy a fully user-opted-in experience where inspirational commerce and content converge.”
The arrival of Glance AI on Samsung’s lock screen means that smartphone users can expect personalized news, games, live sports updates, and more trending content, directly on their lock screens. This experience is powered by artificial intelligence that curate content based on user interests and habits.
Glance has been a subsidiary of mobile advertising company InMobi for five years and has built a strong global presence with over 300 million users—235 million of them based in India. The Glance platform is currently available on more than 450 million smartphones worldwide. It partners with several major OEMs, including Samsung, MI, Vivo, Oppo, realme, Jio, and others.
For Samsung, this is part of an effort to deliver more than just a phone; it wants to bring engaging services to the front layer of the mobile experience. And Glance AI seems like a good fit to make that happen.
Jason Shim, Senior Director and Head of Samsung Galaxy Store USA, said in a statement: “Glance AI is a perfect example of the kind of high-quality and unique content we strive to deliver. By using AI to personalise content and shopping directly on the lock screen, it brings a smarter, more dynamic experience that reflects the forward-thinking spirit of the Galaxy Store.”
Google and Glance’s partnership is now expanding with a focus on generative AI. The company recently announced that it will integrate Google’s Imagen 4 into its platform to enhance visual content generation.
This move is likely to improve the visual storytelling and personalization of content shown on the lock screens. Imagine AI-generated wallpapers, interactive stories, or daily visual digests, all created through advanced tools like Imagen 4 and delivered seamlessly through Glance.
One of the most interesting developments is the rise of shopping via the Samsung Galaxy’s lock screen. With Glance AI’s entry, users can browse deals and make quick purchases directly from their lock screens in the future.
Glance already has experience in lock screen commerce in Asian markets, where users engage with shoppable content without needing to open an app. Bringing this to the US could mark a new phase in mobile retail.
Currently, Glance has a major presence in India and Southeast Asia, with over 200 million active users. Its partnership with Samsung gives it a strong entry point into the US market, where competition for user attention is intense.
The availability of Glance AI on Samsung devices in the US is a strategic step to boost its global presence. Meanwhile, Samsung adds a layer of AI-powered engagement that could set its devices apart in a crowded smartphone market.
