Dixon Technologies to Invest ₹1,000 Crore in New Laptop Manufacturing Unit Near Chennai

In a big boost to India’s electronics manufacturing industry, a new laptop plant by Dixon Technologies is to be set up near Chennai for an investment of ₹1,000 crore. This move will be strengthening India’s position in the global laptop market and aligns with the government’s ‘Make in India’ policy. The Hindu reported that the new plant is to be set up in IndoSpace Industrial Park at Oragadam in Chennai and is expected to create employment for 500 people.

The new factory will play a pivotal role in Dixon Laptop manufacturing operations in Chennai, aiding the firm in increasing its output capacity and serving both local and overseas markets. As laptop demand increases from digitalization and remote-working trends, the plant is likely to catalyze considerable growth.

TRB Rajaa, Minister of Industries, Tamil Nadu said, “We are building a $100 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem — and every factory we launch is a step closer to that dream. Welcome to Tamil Nadu, Dixon, HP and all the other brands whose devices will now be manufactured here in TN.”
