China’s First National Express Delivery Drone Service Starting from the First week of January 2021
Express Delivery Service by unmanned aircraft or drones will be effective from January 1st, 2021. It is issued by the State Post Bureau of PRC and the standard was jointly formulated by industry-leading players including EHang, JD.com, and ZTO Express.
This will be China’s first industry standard for express delivery service by drones. The implementation of the standard will improve the last-mile delivery service while ensuring the safety of operations.
Besides, it will also promote the R&D of intelligent aerial logistics.

The Standard will be applicable on all the express delivery service by drones with a maximum takeoff weight of 150kr and empty aircraft weighing about 116kg. It will have an airspeed of no greater than 100km/h with specified service entities, safety issues, conditions, assessments, procedures, and compensation of express delivery.
It will provide a standard reference to engage in drone delivery services for postal express companies and drone operators in the future.
