Express Delivery Service by unmanned aircraft or drones will be effective from January 1st, 2021. It is issued by the State Post Bureau of PRC and the standard was jointly formulated by industry-leading players including EHang, JD.com, and ZTO Express.
This will be China’s first industry standard for express delivery service by drones. The implementation of the standard will improve the last-mile delivery service while ensuring the safety of operations.
Besides, it will also promote the R&D of intelligent aerial logistics.
The Standard will be applicable on all the express delivery service by drones with a maximum takeoff weight of 150kr and empty aircraft weighing about 116kg. It will have an airspeed of no greater than 100km/h with specified service entities, safety issues, conditions, assessments, procedures, and compensation of express delivery.
It will provide a standard reference to engage in drone delivery services for postal express companies and drone operators in the future.
EHang, a leading autonomous aerial vehicle company, and the UAM industry pioneer has developed a suite of intelligent aerial logistics solutions. Some of them include the unmanned aircraft systems, the Falcon medium-sized AAV for urban express delivery, take-off and landing control sites, the EH216L heavy-lift AAV for short-to-medium-haul aerial transport, and intelligent self-express service machines.
EHang made a great contribution to the Standard based on its industry expertise and valuable insights with its operating experience, service workflow, and practical data.
EHang will continue to accelerate regular operations with the implementation of the Standard. It will provide regular operation of its intelligent AAV technologies for aerial logistics and provide customized solutions including retail, logistics, offshore oil and gas, and e-commerce to help improve efficiency.
