Today, people all over the world are facing problems using ChatGPT. Thousands of users are reporting that ChatGPT is not working, making it difficult for them to access the popular AI chatbot. This global outage is also affecting other OpenAI tools like Sora and the GPT API, as confirmed by Money Control.
The issue was first noticed in the early afternoon. Downdetector, a website that tracks service outages, showed a big spike in complaints starting just before 3 PM IST. At the peak, more than 1,100 users reported issues in just a few minutes.
ChatGPT is down for users in many countries, including India, the United States, and the United Kingdom. The main problem is that the chatbot is not responding to questions or commands. Some people can open the website, but nothing happens when they type. Others see error messages like “Hmm…something seems to have gone wrong” or “A network error occurred. Please check your connection and try again. If this issue persists, please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com.”
Many users are also having trouble with the OpenAI app or logging in. Some are stuck in a login loop, while others get logged out for no reason. In some cases, people lose their work or ongoing conversations with the chatbot. Social media is full of screenshots showing blank chat windows, incomplete replies, and loading failures. People are sharing their frustration and asking if others are facing the same issues.
OpenAI has not said exactly what happened or when the service will be fixed. On its official status page, the company says, “Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across the listed services. We are continuing to investigate this issue.” This means that the OpenAI technical team is working hard to find and fix the problem.
People who use ChatGPT for work, study, or daily help are frustrated. Many have taken to social media to share their experiences and ask for updates.
For now, users are advised to be patient and not refresh their pages or log in repeatedly. Doing this may not help and could make things worse, like triggering extra security checks. Downdetector’s live map shows that most of the problems are in North America, Europe, and India. The outage is widespread, but some users may still be able to access the service, depending on their location.
Experts say outages like this can happen for many reasons. Sometimes it is due to a failed software update. Other times, it could be a cyber-attack or a problem with the servers. Whatever the cause, OpenAI’s technical team is working hard to restore service as quickly as possible.
The ChatGPT not working situation is affecting users all over the world. OpenAI is aware of the problem and is investigating it. The outage is mainly with the chatbot, but it also impacts Sora and the GPT API. Most users are seeing error messages or cannot access the service at all. The issue started suddenly and has caused a lot of frustration.
This is not the first time ChatGPT has faced a global outage. Earlier this year, in April, a similar problem happened when many users tried to use new features at the same time. This shows how popular and important ChatGPT has become for millions of people around the world.
