  • The update allows ChatGPT users to view visuals of trending art styles
  • The update eliminates the need to describe image styles in text prompts

OpenAI will reportedly give ChatGPT users access to an upgraded version of its image generator tool with a feature from the Sora app. According to Gadgets360, the AI developer is reportedly testing an OpenAI image generator update called ImageGenV2.

OpenAI Brings Preset Styles to ChatGPT

The new image generator update will reportedly allow ChatGPT users to generate images in preset styles. OpenAI made its image generator accessible to all ChatGPT users for the first time on April 1, 2025.

Unveiling the update, AIPRM lead engineer Tibor Blaho shared an “ImageGenV2Banner” photo on the X platform. The banner, which also appeared on ChatGPT enterprise accounts, had the words, “Make images with ChatGPT, feature your friends, faster image generation, and more consistent editing” as per Gadgets360.

ChatGPT Users See Update Pop-Ups on Apps

Several users have seen the ChatGPT AI image generation update pop-up on the chatbot’s mobile and web apps, with a global roll out expected soon. In South Korea, a user reported seeing a message pop-up on his ChatGPT app.

Based on the screenshot shared, ChatGPT users will be able to view visuals of trending art style options that they can choose before generating an image.

I know Sora has styles. But, styles just popped up for me in the ChatGPT Android beta app. Is this new?,” the user posted on X.

AI-powered image generation has become a new competition frontier for tech companies. In April 2025, Adobe launched an AI-based image generation tool, Adobe Firefly app to make ad design tools accessible to ad creatives.

Image Generator Update to Use Styles Feature

OpenAI’s ChatGPT ImageGenV2 will reportedly leverage the Styles feature, effectively eliminating the need for creators to describe the image style they want in text prompts. The new update is also expected to enhance the consistency of outputs for content creators.

The AI developer first added the Styles feature to the Sora app which generates videos from images and text. With the latest ChatGPT web and mobile app image-generator, OpenAI appears to be bringing Sora app capabilities to its chatbot.

OpenAI has made significant efforts towards AI-powered image generation. Recently, the AI firm unveiled the Sora 2 AI model, which can generate sound effects, synchronized dialogues, as well as accurate, realistic motion.

Update Could Convert Prompts Automatically

The ChatGPT preset styles leak did not reveal the functionality of the image generator update. However, the update is expected to facilitate automatic conversion of user prompts as soon as they pick a style.
Based on the screenshots shared by ChatGPT users, some of the preset styles include Chibi, Crayon, Blockart, and Nightcam. Even so, OpenAI is yet to release the image generator update formally.
