Apple and Tata’s partnership is deepening as the big tech has now entrusted the Indian Company with the responsibility of handling iPhone and MacBook repair in India, as reported by The Hindu. This move marks a significant expansion in the phone manufacturer’s service operations in the country and underlines the growing importance of Apple’s partnership with Tata in India.
In a major development, Apple has handed over a large part of its iPhone repair operations to Tata Electronics. With this, Tata will now be managing the after-sales services, including hardware repairs, for Apple’s flagship products, the iPhone and MacBook, in India. This Apple and Tata repair tie-up is expected to improve turnaround times and bring more consistency to customer support services.
Until now, Apple has relied on third-party vendors and independent authorized service providers. However, with rising demand in India and the company’s growing retail presence, the tech giant is taking a more integrated route.
Prabhu Ram, a vice president at Cybermedia Research, said, “Tata’s deepening partnership with Apple could also pave the groundwork for Apple directly selling refurbished devices in India, like how it does in the United States currently.”
Apple and Tata’s partnership is not new. The Indian company already assembles iPhones in India through its partnership with Wistron, and has plans to expand its manufacturing footprint. With this new role in repairs, Tata’s responsibilities now go beyond production.
The repair operations will reportedly begin with major Indian cities, gradually expanding to tier-2 and tier-3 markets. This aligns with Apple’s strategy of service expansion in India, aiming to make services more accessible across the country. Improved service infrastructure is especially important in a market like India, where after-sales support plays a key role in customer loyalty.
For Indian users, the Apple-Tata repair tie-up means better access to authentic repair services backed directly by Apple’s global standards. Faster repairs, improved parts availability, and consistent quality checks could become the new norm. Until now, repair services have often been criticized for delays and lack of transparency, especially in non-metro areas.
By leveraging Tata’s scale and experience, Apple is likely aiming to close these gaps and enhance user trust. The partnership also comes at a time when iPhone sales in India are reaching new highs, thanks to local manufacturing and growing brand visibility.
This step adds another layer to Apple’s partnership with Tata in India, which has been gradually expanding over the last few years. From iPhone manufacturing to retail store openings in Mumbai and Delhi, Apple is committed to India as a key market.
With this repair network shift, Apple is not just selling more in India, it’s now investing more deeply in the user experience after the purchase. For Tata, this adds yet another global brand to its growing tech portfolio, showcasing the trust that global companies are placing in Indian capabilities.
