  • The AI firm attributes revenue growth to rapid Claude AI adoption
  • Anthropic has opened its first office in India
  • Air India and Cognizant are among Anthropic’s enterprise AI clients in India

Anthropic’s revenue has doubled in India over the last four months. According to Yahoo Finance, the revenue growth indicates rapid adoption of the company’s Claude coding tool in the world’s most populous country. The AI startup opened its first office in India in Bengaluru in February 2026.

“Anthropic’s business run-rate revenue within India has doubled over the last four months, and Claude Code may have grown even faster,” Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said as cited by Yahoo Finance.

India is Anthropic’s Second Largest Market

The AI company also noted that India has become its second-largest market for the Claude AI model after the United States. Anthropic’s Bengaluru office expansion indicates the company’s growing interest in the country’s market.

Speaking during a visit to Bengaluru for Anthropic’s Builder Summit, Amodei said he had witnessed a level of technical intensity that stands out even by global standards.

“Claude has always skewed a ‌little bit more towards the kind of productivity and professional (workloads), and that’s even more so here in India,” he added.

Unlike in other markets where AI adoption is driven by consumer experimentation, Amodei noted that India’s uptake is distinctly developer-led and focused on productivity gains.

Focus on Enterprise AI

In recent months, Anthropic has been expanding its influence in the enterprise AI market and has developed a strong response to the Claude Code since its launch in May 2025. Earlier this year, the AI company expanded its leadership in enterprise AI after signing a deal with global insurance firm, Allianz.

The deal allows the AI firm to bring its AI model to the insurance industry. Anthropic’s focus on enterprise AI demand also saw it launch Claude Cowork recently. The AI agent that is capable of completing computer-based tasks for professionals.

A plug-in of the AI agent, which automates legal and marketing tasks, triggered a global selloff of data analytics and software stocks amid fears of an impending AI disruption in the industry.

In India, the stock selloff raised concerns that rapid adoption of generative AI could disrupt the $283 billion IT services sector. This month alone, shares of the country’s software exporters have lost more than $47 billion in market value. Last week, Anthropic’s $30B funding round pushed the company’s valuation to $380 billion.

Growing Collaboration With Indian Companies

Anthropic highlighted various Claude code partnerships in India. The company said Air India is using its AI model to fast-track development of custom software and integrate agentic AI across its operations.

The AI developer also said IT services giant Cognizant is deploying Claude to modernize legacy technology systems. In a strong indication of rising Claude Code adoption in India, Anthropic announced more collaborations with Indian startups across legal, education, healthcare, and agriculture sectors.

The company made the announcements ahead of CEO Dario Amodei’s appearance at the AI Impact Summit in India.
