AI startup Anthropic plans to expand operations to Europe. Part of Anthropic’s EMEA growth involves opening offices in Munich and Paris, Reuters reported.
Anthropic’s expansion to Europe comes at a time when the AI firm is seeking to triple its global workforce to meet growing demand for Claude AI large language models outside the U.S.
Growing Demand for Claude AI in the EMEA Region
Anthropic already has offices in Zurich, Dublin, and London, where it created 100 new roles back in April 2025. The company’s workforce in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region has tripled over the last year.
“EMEA has become our fastest-growing region, with a run-rate revenue that has grown more than 9x in the past year. The number of large EMEA business accounts has also grown more than 10x over the past year,” the company stated on its website.
In August 2025, Anthropic expanded its business offerings after it bundled the powerful AI coding assistant, Claude Code, into enterprise subscriptions. Founded in 2021, Anthropic is backed by Alphabet and Amazon. The company was last valued at $183 billion.
Anthropic’s Global-Expansion Plan
Anthropic’s Paris and Munich offices are part of the company’s global expansion strategy. Recently, the U.S.-based AI firm has opened offices in Tokyo, Bengaluru, and Seoul. According to company data, France and Germany are among the top 20 countries for Claude AI usage.
Some of the notable brands that Anthropic serves in the European market include BMW, L’Oréal, Lovable, SAP, and N26.
“Europe is home to some of the world’s most important and forward-thinking companies. The business leaders I speak to are clear-eyed on both the immense opportunity that AI development represents and the critical importance of safety, reliability, and public trust, Anthropic’s Managing Director of International Chris Ciauri said.

According to the AI startup, most European clients use Claude Code to write computer programs, resolve network problems, and fix software issues. Last month, the AI startup launched a faster and cheaper version of Claude Haiku AI model.
The lightweight AI model is optimized for production, making it easier for developers to deploy multiple agents simultaneously or in combination with other highly complex models.
