Anthropic Unveils Claude Code on the Web for Pro and Max Subscribers

In Focus

  • Anthropic has launched Claude Code for the web
  • Claude Code web app allows developers to manage AI agent from their browsers
  • Claude Code on the web is accessible to Pro and Max Plan subscribers

Anthropic has unveiled a web application for its AI coding assistant, Claude Code. According to TechCrunch, Claude Code on the web allows developers to design and manage multiple AI coding agents from their browser.

Access Limited to Pro and Max for Subscribers

Anthropic Claude Code for web will be available to Pro Plan and Max plan subscribers who pay $20 and up to $200 per month respectively. To access the AI web app, subscribers should use the Claude iOS app or open claude.ai on their browser and click on the “Code” tab.

The launch of Anthropic’s browser version of the coding assistant is the AI startup’s latest attempt to grow Claude Code beyond the command-line interface. The web version compliments Claude Code workflows.

Claude Code is effective for:

  • Responding to queries about projects and repositories
  • Bugfixes and well-defined tasks
  • Backend changes

With Claude Code on the web, Anthropic expects developers to design and introduce AI coding agents in more environments. Anthropic is seeking to shape enterprise AI deployment through an investment from Deloitte. The partnership will make Claude accessible to employees across the company’s global network.

Claude Code is a Popular AI Coding Tool

Claude Code is one of the most popular AI-powered coding tools in the market. Since its launch back in May 2025, its user base has grown 10x. Today, the AI coding product generates over $500 million for Anthropic annually.

The AI startup attributes Claude Code’s growth to its AI models which have gained popularity among developers in recent years. Anthropic says it will continue to add Claude Code in other places. However, the terminal will most likely serve as the home for the AI coding product.
As we look forward, one of our key focuses is making sure the command-line interface product is the most intelligent and customizable way for you to use coding agents. But we’re continuing to put Claude Code everywhere, helping it meet developers wherever they are. Web and mobile are a big step in this direction,” Anthropic Product Manager Cat Wu said.

Last week, Anthropic unveiled a faster and cheaper version of its Claude Haiku AI model. Haiku 4.5 makes it easier for developers to deploy multiple agents simultaneously.

How Does Anthropic’s Claude Code Web Version Work?

According to the AI startup, 90% of its Claude Code was developed by Anthropic AI models. Wu says she mostly reviews Claude Code’s output and rarely writes code. Initially, AI coding tools performed the autocompleting role, finishing code lines as developers wrote the.

Agentic AI coding tools like Claude Code have changed this and allowed developers to design AI agents that work autonomously.

With this shift, millions of software engineers can now manage AI coding assistants in their regular jobs. But not all developers appreciate this shift as some are slower when they use AI coding tools such as Cursor. AI coding tools also experience difficulties handling huge, complex code bases. This means developers have to spend more time fixing incorrect responses generated by AI models.

Despite these challenges, Anthropic continues to make AI coding Agents. In March 2025, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei forecasted that AI will write 90% of code for developers.

Although this is already happening within Anthropic, it might take time before the shift reflects in the wider economy.

A Sneak Preview of Anthropic’s Claude Code on Web

  • Claude Code on web is designed to compliment Claude Code workflows
  • Claude Code allows developers to design AI agents that work autonomously
  • Developers access Claude Code on web via Claude iOS app or claude.ai
  • Web version moves Claude Code beyond the command-line interface

Tech Companies’ Race to Launch AI Coding Tools

Increasingly, many tech companies are focusing on developing AI-powered coding tools that stand out. For a long time, Microsoft-owned GitHub Copilot dominated this space. However, companies like OpenAI, Curso, Anthropic, and Google have developed and rolled out high-performing AI coding tools.

Anthropic launches the Claude Code web version weeks after Google DeepMind unveiled an AI agent called CodeMender to fix security vulnerabilities. The AI agent can detect and fix software code vulnerabilities automatically. Google DeepMind says using the AI agent eliminates the manual bug fixes that consume plenty of developer time.
