Amazon Expands Health AI Assistant Access to Its Website

In Focus

  • The AI assistant can respond to queries and explain health records
  • Users must sign in to Amazon Health account to interact with the chatbot
  • Amazon Prime subscribers get up to five free direct-message consultations

Amazon is bringing its AI-powered health assistant to its website and app, TechCrunch reported. Previously, Amazon’s Health AI assistant could only be accessed through the One Medical app. On the Amazon website, users can access the chatbot without joining One Medical as members or becoming Prime subscribers.

Sign Up Available on the Amazon Website

Following Amazon’s move to integrate Health AI into its website, users can sign up for the chatbot through the company’s Health page. As the company broadens access, signed-up users will get an email notification after they access the AI assistant. Users have to sign in to their Amazon Health account to interact with the chatbot.

Amazon expands AI into healthcare services at a time when leading AI developers have released health-focused products. Earlier this year, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health, a custom chatbot version that responds to health-related queries.

ChatGPT Health also connects wellness apps and medical records to the AI chatbot to give users a unified and cohesive experience. Anthropic also unveiled Claude for Healthcare, an AI-powered platform that offers tools for medical professionals. In 2025, Google personalized wellness with the FitBit AI coach, a tool that turns health data into health insights.

How Amazon’s Health AI Assistant Works

The Amazon Health AI chatbot is designed to respond to health queries. It can explain health records, schedule appointments, and manage prescription renewals. The Amazon healthcare AI assistant can personalize health advice and actions based on the needs of a user.

The AI assistant can interpret diagnoses, lab results, and medical records and generate highly personalized responses about a user’s symptoms and medication. Additionally, the tool can link users to healthcare professionals and treatments. The tool can generate responses to health queries without accessing the medical information of a user.

While announcing the Health AI assistant and One Medical integration, Amazon said its models are trained on “abstracted patterns without directly identifying information.”

This means the company studies patterns in user queries to train its health AI models on responses.
This approach is critical in addressing risks that relate to exposure of user health information by AI systems. Amazon added Health AI days after its subsidiary, AWS launched Amazon Connect Health, an agent-powered platform that automates repetitive tasks in the healthcare sector.

What Services Do Health AI Users Access?

In the U.S., Prime subscribers who use the Health AI assistant access a maximum of five free direct-message consultations with a One Medical provider. The consultations cover more than 30 common conditions, ranging from colds, flu, and allergies to anti-aging skin care concerns.

Non-Prime users can connect with One Medical providers through Amazon’s pay-per-visit service. The company said Health AI users interact with the chatbot in a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Amazon said that conversations on the chatbot are protected by “encryption and strict access controls.” After getting user consent, Amazon’s AI health chatbot accesses health information via the Health Information Exchange. This is athe secure system for sharing patient medical data.
