Adobe has launched Adobe Firefly for mobile devices, Yahoo Finance reported. With this launch, Adobe introduces AI-powered content creation tools to smartphones and other mobile devices.
The launch of the Firefly mobile app on Android and iOS expands Adobe’s creative platform from the web app version that the company unveiled in April. The web app allowed users to use Adobe’s Firefly AI video and image generation models as well as third-party models to create ads. Adobe’s AI-powered mobile app does the same.
Through this app, users can use Adobe’s Firefly AI models and others developed by companies such as OpenAI, Google and Black Forest Labs. The models include the GPT image generator, Veo 2 and Imagen 3 by Google, and Flux.1 by Black Forest Labs. Adobe has also expanded its Firefly generative AI to integrate models from emerging partners that include Luma AI, Runway, and Pika.
“Creators continue to impress us with the breadth and artistry of the images, videos, graphics and designs they’re dreaming up in the Firefly app using models from both Adobe and our partners,” Adobe chief technology officer Ely Greenfield said.
Ad creators can use the Firefly mobile app to generate and edit videos or images from anywhere and integrate seamlessly with Adobe’s Creative Cloud. This integration makes workflows more efficient by syncing projects across desktop, web, and mobile design applications like Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
The mobile app gives creators a range of options and features to enable them to create and manipulate ad assets to suit their needs. For instance, they can generate ad assets through text prompts for videos and images.
Creators also have the option of changing images into videos. They can edit content and add or delete elements using tools such as Generative Expand and Generative Fill. The Firefly mobile app also comes with features that give creators precise control over ad composition and aesthetics. These features include Scene to Image, Structure Reference, and Style Reference.
Adobe plans to add more features to the Firefly mobile app in the coming month. These will include the text-to-avator feature and the sound effect generator feature. The giant software company also plans to introduce the audio-to-video syncing feature that uses voice input.
“Our goal with Firefly is to deliver creators the most comprehensive destination on web and mobile to access the best generative models from across the industry, in a single integrated experience from ideation to generation and editing,” Greenfield added.
AI models from the new partners are currently available on Adobe’s Firefly Boards, the collaborative ideation whiteboard tool. However, the software giant will be extending them to the Firefly mobile app soon. Once the partner models launch on the Firefly app, content creators will be able to work with diverse media formats and aesthetic styles.
The idea is to provide users with a comprehensive, AI-driven toolkit that supports the entire ad creation process, from ideation all the way to production. Adobe is updating Firefly Boards with video generation capabilities. On the transparency front, Adobe will embed content credentials into all AI-generated assets that creators generate. These credentials show whether Adobe AI models or those of its partner companies were used to generate the content.
Adobe started distributing its AI Firefly video model, a tool that creates videos from text prompts, in October 2024. With this tool, the company made a debut in the highly competitive AI video generation market.
Since then, the company says content creators have used Firefly to generate upwards of 24 billion assets. Interest in the AI video model continues to increase with the company reporting a 30% rise in first-time subscribers quarter-over-quarter. This increase indicates a growing appetite for AI-powered tools that prioritize creative control. Adobe Firefly AI video model allows users to craft text prompts in over 100 languages, an aspect that makes it attractive to global users.
