Skyroot Aerospace Partners with Axiom Space to Boost Global Space Missions

Skyroot Aerospace has signed a strategic agreement with US-based Axiom Space, as reported by the Times of India. This new partnership aims to support commercial space missions and foster innovation in satellite launches and human spaceflight services.

The agreement marks a significant milestone for both companies and could reshape the global approach to space collaboration. With this move, Skyroot Aerospace is strengthening its position in the international space ecosystem, underlining the growing capabilities of Indian space startups.

A Major Leap in Advancing Space Exploration

The collaboration between Skyroot and Axiom is expected to contribute meaningfully to advancing space exploration. Axiom Space, which is known for leading the development of the world’s first commercial space station, will now work closely with Skyroot to plan and coordinate future space missions.

The tie-up will cover a range of areas, including payload deployment, space station logistics, and possibly astronaut transportation. For Skyroot’s space missions, this could open exciting new possibilities in low-Earth orbit and beyond.

Pawan Kumar Chandana, co-founder and CEO, Skyroot Aerospace, “Enabling greater and equitable access to space, be it for research institutes, startups, or national agencies, is the guiding mantra at Skyroot.”

Axiom and Skyroot Join Hands for Global Missions

This Axiom and Skyroot collaboration is one of the most high-profile international partnerships for an Indian private space company to date. The agreement signals a vote of confidence in Skyroot’s technology, including its Vikram-series rockets, which are designed for cost-effective satellite launches.

Axiom’s international tie-up shows that global players are increasingly looking to Indian companies to support ambitious space goals. Axiom, which already works with NASA and SpaceX, sees Skyroot as a valuable partner with scalable technology and a growing track record.

Chandana also added, “As we begin realizing this vision with the upcoming maiden launch of Vikram-1-1, the partnership with Axiom Space builds an opportunity to explore integrated launch and orbital solutions that will shape humanity’s future in space.”

Skyroot’s Growing Impact in the Global Space Industry

Founded in 2018 by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, Skyroot Aerospace is one of India’s most promising private space tech startups. The company made headlines in November 2022 when it launched Vikram-S, India’s first privately built rocket.

Since then, Skyroot’s space missions have attracted attention not only for their innovation but also for their potential to lower the cost of access to space. The company has plans to scale its rocket lineup, including the launch of Vikram-I, which is expected to carry larger payloads and cater to commercial satellite customers.

The collaboration represents a key moment for India’s space-tech sector, which has seen increasing support from both the government and investors. With Axiom on board, Skyroot Aerospace is likely to benefit from knowledge sharing, mission planning experience, and global exposure.

Axiom Space CEO Tejpaul Bhatia said, “Since the day I visited Skyroot’s facility two years ago, I knew our companies had to work together to define humanity’s future in space. With our shared vision to transform access to space, we look forward to collaborating with Skyroot to serve the growing space ecosystem in India and globally.”
