New Customization Options to Boost Zoom AI Assistant Capabilities
Zoom has unveiled AI Companion 2.0, an advanced Zoom AI assistant designed to make work management easier and more effective for Zoom users.
Engadget reported that Zoom unveiled new AI innovations for Zoom Business and Workplace users during its 2024 Zoomtopia event. The video conferencing company used the event to showcase AI integration on its platform and how its new AI innovations will improve efficiency and streamline operations at the workplace.
Powerful Capabilities
Zoom AI Companion 2.0 comes with personalized features, streamlined workflows, and intelligent suggestions conveniently accessible via a side panel. The AI assistant integrates seamlessly with platforms like Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, and Gmail, allowing users to draw real-time summaries and actionable insights from those platforms.
Zoom says its AI assistant will constantly be present on the Zoom Workplace window. It can recall previous conversations and develop citations of statements that users make. AI Companion is designed to identify important points in discussions and messages, draft notes, generate post-call summaries, and compose emails.
Users can leverage Zoom’s latest features to summarize email chains or documents and even use it to craft content drafts like event descriptions, speaker bios, and messages. Zoom underscored the transformative nature of AI Companion features during the Zoomtopia event.
“At Zoom, we’re not just reimagining communication—we’re revolutionizing the entire work experience. This is more than an evolution; it’s a complete overhaul of how we get things done in the digital age,” Zoom Founder and CEO, Eric Yuan said founder and CEO of Zoom.
Custom AI Companion Add-On
In addition to Zoom’s smart AI assistant, the video conferencing giant announced it will provide a customer add-on tool called AI Studio as an accompaniment to AI Companion. AI studio empowers businesses to customize AI functionality to their unique needs and likes.
With AI Studio, users will have access to a wide range of features including personalized coaching and custom dictionaries. For instance, businesses can teach AI vocabularies and jargon that are unique to their company. Companies can use the tool to reference their documentation to provide responses.
AI studio expands Zoom AI features through integration to third-party applications like Workday, Jira, and ServiceNow that businesses use to boost efficiency and scale operations. To access Zoom’s custom AI Companion add-on, businesses will have to pay an extra $12 per user per month.
Industry-Specific Solutions
Zoom is focused on customizing AI solutions to meet the specific needs of target industries. To date, the video conferencing company has developed Zoom Workplace for healthcare, education, frontline, and clinicians.
For instance, Zoom Workplace for education leverages AI to generate notes, lecture summaries, and personalized feedback for users. The frontline solution gives users access to communications, shift summaries, and insights.
Zoom’s AI Companion 2.0 will not be available to users immediately. However, the company said Zoom Workplace customers will be able to download it starting November 2024. The updated AI assistant will also not be accessible to customers in all industries and regions at the time.
Zoom customers will have to wait until the first half of 2025 to customize their AI options. The company said that it will avail some features for preview in the coming months, but companies will only access the entire AI studio suite in the coming year.
